Flag Purchase Request

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby receive report 24-M-043 from the Municipal Clerk Rhonda Smith regarding ‘Autism Awareness Day’; and

     

    WHEREAS April 2nd 2024 is recognized as World Autism Day and by flying the flag throughout the month of April the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami is hereby showing support for Autistic individuals across Ontario; and

     

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does herby direct the Municipal Clerk to purchase an ‘Autism Awareness Flag’ and to fly this flag at the Municipal Office for the month of April.

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby receive report 24-M-052 from the Municipal Clerk for information purposes.

Water System Funding Application Request

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami hereby receives Memo 2024-M-054 regarding the Housing enabling Water Systems Fund;

    AND FURTHER THAT Council directs Staff to continue to work with OCWA to apply for the Secondary Treatment Train in Temagami South.

Reinstatement

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby receive report 24-M-046 regarding the Municipal Service Awards be reinstated; and

     

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby appoint two (2) Councilors to join the Municipal Clerk to form a Municipal Service Awards Committee to convene after the nomination period has ended and provide a report to Council with the recommended Candidates; and

Temagami North DWS

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality o Temagami does hereby receive the 2023 Annual Summary Report from OCWA for information purposes.

Curbside and Depot Services

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami hereby receives Memo 2024-M-053 for information.

    AND FURTHER THAT Staff be directed to....

Affordability of Water and Wastewater Systems

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby support the County of Renfrew regarding 'Rural and Small Urban Municipalities - Affordability of Water and Wastewater Systems' resolution; and 

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby Advocate to the provincial and federal levels of government to make them aware that rural and small urban water and wastewater systems are financially unsustainable; and Advocate to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), the Rural Ontario Municipalities Association (ROMA) and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) to examine if the unaffordability of water and wastewater system operational costs is systemic provincially and nationally.

Carbon Tax

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby support Plympton-Wyoming regarding 'Carbon Tax'; and

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby direct the Municipal Clerk to write a letter to the Federal Government strongly urging them to cancel the 'Carbon Tax' which is financially hurting our citizens at a time when affordability concerns are at an all-time high to ease the financial and inflationary pressure on our citizens.

Blue Box Regulation for Ineligible Sources

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby support the Township of Perry regarding thier 'Request to the Province to Amend Blue Box Regulation for Ineligible Sources'; and

    WHEREAS under Ontario Regulation 391/21: Blue Box producers are fully accountable and financially responsible for their products and packaging once they reach their end of life and are disposed of, for ‘eligible’ sources only; ‘ineligible’ sources which producers are not responsible for include businesses, places of worship, daycares, campgrounds, public-facing and internal areas of municipal-owned buildings, and not-for-profit organizations, such as shelters and food banks;


    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami hereby request that the province amend Ontario Regulation 391/21: Blue Box so that producers are responsible for the end-of-life management of recycling products from all sources;

    AND FURTHER THAT the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby direct the Municipal Clerk to forward this resolution to the Honourable Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, the Honourable Andrea Khanjin, Minister of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks, the Honourable Anthony Rota, MP Nippising-Timiskiming, Honourable Vic Fideli, MPP Nippising.

Provincial and National Fire Fighting Strategy

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby support the Municipality of Calvin regarding 'the National and Provincial Firefighting Strategy'; and

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby urge and encourage the Federal Government to commit additional funds for cost sharing of Provincial Firefighting and to consider the development of a National Strategy of Firefighting; and

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami directs the Municipal Clerk to forward this resolution to the Hon. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister, Hon. Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, Hon. Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, Hon. Graydon Smith, Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry of Ontario, Hon. Vic Fideli, Minister of Economic Development Ontario, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) and the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO).

Ontario's Fifth Annual Provincial Day of Action on Litter

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby receive report 24-M-047 regarding ‘Ontario’s Fifth Annual Provincial Day of Action on Litter’; and

     

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby direct the Municipal Office Staff to provide one (1) garbage bag per participant on Tuesday May 14, 2024.

FONOM/FedNor - Go North!

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby receive report 24-M-048 regarding the ‘Go North!’ campaign; and

     

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby direct the Economic Development Coordinator to research and participate in the campaign to promote Temagami.

Climate Change

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby receive report 24-M-051 regarding ‘Climate Change Crisis’; and

     

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby acknowledge that climate change harms the health and security of people through intense wildfires, flooding, storms, droughts, rising sea levels, the spread of invasive insects bearing diseases, negative impacts on agriculture, and food supply interruption, thus further stressing social, economic, and political systems;

     

    WHEREAS a crisis can be defined as a ‘Dangerous Situation Requiring Immediate Action’; and

     

    AND WHEREAS the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby declare a ‘Climate Change Crisis’ for the purpose of naming, framing, and deepening our commitment in our ‘Climate Action Plan’ to protecting our local ecosystems, local economy and our community from climate change.

     

    AND WHEREAS the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby direct the Municipal Clerk to send this resolution to Hon. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister, Hon. Doug Ford, Premier, Hon. Anthony Rota, MPP and Hon. Vic Fideli, MP.

Resolution of Request

  • Draft Motion:

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby receive the request from the Temagami Police Services Board; and

     

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby approve of the dissolution of the 'Temagami Police Services Board' effective March 31, 2024.

     

    AND FURTHER THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby appoint _____________________ to be the contact for the new Police Services Board.

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council for the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami does hereby Repeal By-law 92-297; and

    FURTHER THAT the Council for the Municipality of Temagami does hereby direct staff to table proposed By-law 23-1710 indefinitely.

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT By-law 24-1731, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Temagami, be taken as read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 14th day of March 2024;

    AND FURTHER THAT the said by-law be signed by the Mayor and Clerk and recorded in the by-law book.
